Leather Barracks Straps could be used in pairs to hang swords or rifles between them or hung individually with the 6 hooks to each strap being very useful for clothes etc. in a tent or barrack room. Such equipment would enable an officer to unpack his bags and start to make any basic accommodation feel a little more like home. The hooks are brass and fixed by rivets to the leather. Each strap has a brass eyelet to both top and bottom to hang them. Late 19th Century.
